Eventy pleating Roman shade mechanism / VideoA new type of Roman shade mechanism is created using a pleat equaliser, fibreglass rods and lift cords. Fibreglass rods are threaded into channels sewn into the fabric at the pleats after which pleat equalisers, equipped with quick fasteners, are attached to the rods. The lift cords are passed through the pleat equalisers and attached to the lowermost pleat equaliser using a cord lock. The lock keeps the cord tightly in place without the use of knots. The pleat equalisers stop the pleats from bunching up close together, creating a beautiful and evenly pleated Roman shade with a voluminous and mock-pleated look. The quick fastening system makes the construction of the Roman shade easier and faster. It makes the shade easy to detach from the mechanism for washing or changing the fabric. Thus a new fabric can be attached to the same mechanism, making it unnecessary to purchase a new mechanism. Read more...

Adjustable Chair for relieving back painEsko Puusti has designed a chair to relieve back pain, whereby the person sitting in the chair uses his or her own weight to move the seat forwards and downwards while simultaneously lifting the backrest. The movement created by the chair opens up the angle of the user’s hips. The change in the position of the lumbar area lowers the pressure on the intervertebral discs in the spine and decreases static muscle work in the back, which lessens the load on the back. Pyro-man gasifying pellet boilerPyro-Man Oy has developed combustion technology for use in the heating of small premises. In this entirely new type of boiler the solid fuel, pellet or wood chips are gasified in a separate reactor. The generated gas is mixed with combustion air and led to the heating boiler’s firebox for combustion. The ash that is left over from the process falls into the ash chamber underneath the reactor, from where it can easily be removed. Ash removal can also be automated. The equipment should be maintained approximately every 3 to 8 months. Read more...
